Torture and Violence and Wars, Oh my!
The US Press is pretending to go “bonkers” over the Bush mid-east/cuba torture machine, yet again… What bugs the hell out of me are the disingenuous liberals, who maintain the pretense that the Bush administration has done something new and surprising with torture. Perhaps the only new thing Bush did was the “in your face”, overt, arrogant, blatant and stupid disregard for the law. Previous administrations have usually tried to keep their blemishes and misconduct in such matters well out of sight. Liberals do not seem to mind when this shit goes down on their watch, as long as it’s kept in the dark or is directed by CIA trained hands of a third party.
Since when did bans or laws against torture stop the US from such despicable acts? The US has illegally tortured people, many of them innocent, as long as it has been making wars and “building nations”. This is one of it’s fulltime business units that is evidently available from US war contractors.
How does one assign non-guilt to those who acted under orders but knew they were engaged in criminal acts. It’s like gang leader who orders a hit, they are guilty of conspiracy. The US is and has been, bound under the Geneva Convention and it’s own laws every time it tortures. Exemption of guilt does have precedence via Hitler’s death camps where some of those who did the gassing we exempted from the criminality of their acts. If this is to be the precedence then lets put the gravity of the crime in the same context of Hitler’s crimes against humanity and prosecute the guilty unto death. The US are teachers, trainers and organizers of torture, death squads, assissins and black marketeers. This is the business of the darkest parts of the US government. Obama has insured and affirmed this by maintaining the US government’s proud history of rendition.
At the end of the day unless you prosecute Generals, Infantry Men and Intelligence Operatives, all of those who committed these acts, the Attorney’s General will find no way to selectively and effectively prosecute. Any conviction, if it were possible, would be lost on appeal. Why should this episode of US violence against humanity yield anything other than what our history has demonstrated; more of the same. To be sure a symbolic victory might be enough for most Obama supporters. It will go well with his symbolic rescue of the economy, the symbolic “fixing” of health care, his symbolic meeting with foreign leaders and his symbolic election to the presidency.
The “torture heresy of the hour” parade by the liberals and media is just more bull-shit and theater and it reeks of political misdirection to keep the citizens focused away from the domestic problems choking the nation… Do NOT get me wrong, I want to see Bush go to prison, I want the whole fucking lot of his administration rounded up like the Chinese did in the Cultural Revolution and bloodied on the concrete of the National Mall. Once that task is complete we should not stop until the senators and congress-people are purged as well.
